Help with spark plug colour, pics included :)
Hi guys, I have searched for plug colours, but couldn't really determine a definite "status" so to speak.
My plugs are mainly white with a hint of copper colour.
I know copper colour, the mixture is pretty much spot on, but i'm just worried about the white colour.
Am I right to assume i'm running slightly lean?
A bit confused as I have read in other topics that the white colour is sometimes "ok"...
I drive a boosted civic, running about 12psi of boost. Any advice if I should turn up the fuelling a little bit, just to be on the safe side or just leave as is..?

Thanks in advance guys.

When were the plugs pulled? If you want a proper reading of them... do a WOT pull and just at the end of it turn off the car and drift to the side of the road. Pull plugs and THEN take pictures
Thanks for the quick reply, plugs were pulled after a short run(normal drive coming back from town, hitting boost a few times), not on WOT though.
I don't really want to give it a WOT pull until i know what my plugs are "telling" me..
Or is that just me being a *****? Lol.

In that case, if you are that nervous about it.. wideband the pull ... but to get a real reading about WOT and where the real pressures are... you need to pull them then. Partial throttle driving will show lean if car is running properly. Idle and partial are supposed to be and will cover up WOT conditions.

What (if any) fuel management do you have? 12psi depending on turbo could be dangerous to a stock motor. I'd give alot more info to us before you go about doing 12psi WOT pulls
Well here's my spec engine-wise:

It's just awaiting a full map, but the problem with living in the UK, hardly anyone can map the Power FC, the guy who is regarded as the best for mapping the Power FC is up in Scotland and I'm all the way down south in England. To be honest, i think i just need to get my *** into gear and get it mapped.
*note, the spark plugs I have literally, just put in, the spark plugs shown are a set of NGK-R for the stock B16.
Thanks again.

Plugs are probably 6 heat range, I'd run a 7 btw. bkr7e.
And yeah... I'd get it mapped
Sounds like a good parts listing though, I know basically nothing about the Power FC... so anything there... gluck with

I would reccomend the plx 300 or the Lm1 by innovative widebands over the aem uego. And with as much money invested in your setup it is very very foolish to not have a properly hooked up wideband. I would hide the keys or somthing until you have the money to buy one. Your in the dark without one. Good luck!
hehe yeah i personally went with the m300, easy to use and almost plug n play.
For EGT look into megan racing gauges on ebay- they make one for $95 with probe which in terms of egt- is a killer deal (compare to $200+ with greddy)
Looks like you gotta killer setup! Just need to know what going on in the combustion chambers now

Yeah, got the el cheapo Megan gauges already(boost and oil pressure), so the EGT gauge would match nicely..lol
Just had a quick browse on the wideband sensors and gauges, am swaying towards the PLX one due to ease of installation.
Thanks again turbotime.
