electric impact wranch.
Black and Decker bulldawg is what I use, it's probably like 10 years old by now.
It will get axle nuts off, it's not as quick as a true impact but by and large it'll get the job done. It's easily my favorite tool after 14 inch gas-powered cutoff saws.

i love my snap on one...i dont know the model of it or whatever....works on just about everything.
the coolest part about it is that the battery doesnt get weak. as soon as it looses power it dies totally so you dont think your torqing something down tight but its not. comes with a 2nd battery too. and the batteries last a long time. i bought mine for the track, but i use it all the time. example....my dad had a flat tire yesterday so i just brought that and some sockets and changed the tire in 5 min. makes life much easier! i dont think i'll ever not own one again

i have the ingersoll-rand 1/2 inch gun, another guy at work has a snap-on 1/2 inch and mine will take off bolts that his cant. it aslo cost about 150 bucks cheaper. i also have the ingersoll 3/8 electric which takes off lugnuts
i completely took apart my atv and replaced the frame with nothing but these two impact guns. the 1/2 has like 350 ft/lbs of torque. its a very nice gun. my 1/2 inch gun also took the crank pulley bolt out of my civic

the 18 volt snap-on cordless 3/8 drive guns will take off diesel headstuds torqued to 180 all day, i couldnt believe it the first time i used one. kills my 1/2" craftsman corded 240 ft/lb gun. theyre like $420 or so
If you have dough to spend get the Makita 1" impact driver, it's huge but u cannot go wrong with 738ft. lbs of breaking power; used that thing to break open a stubborn axle nut with ease. Or, if you think its too much get a Ridgid R6300, it will do fine opening axle nuts as well.
i use the cheap $32 3/8 socket Harbor Freight one and its fine for taking off 10 and 12 mm nuts and bolts here and there. it has lasted for about a year now with no problems.....i dont use it to tighten anything thing but i dont trust my air impact either so i just hand tighten everything after i impact it.
Milwaukee 28V 320 ft/lb hands down owns all other cordless impacts I have ever used. Dewalt, Snap-On, Black and Decker, step aside. It takes crank pulley bolts off as long as you use a shallow socket. Hell, lots of 3/8 air impacts can't do that. This thing took the axle nuts off the front my my 17 year old BMW (AWD) and they were CRUSTY.

You can get them on Amazon.com for about $425 with 2 batteries. I picked it up on Ebay for ~$370.
