My VTEC wont kick in
Is there some way to turn my VTEC on and off that I dont know about? I have a CRX Si with a B16, PR3 ECU pretty much stock , with no VTEC controller. As far as I know Ive only felt VTEC once during a race, in third Gear. I rev all the way until the limiter cuts me off and no VTEC. What could be wrong?
Are you throwing any codes? Something you might want to check is if your oil pan is dented. If it is you might of damaged the oil pick up which would cause it.

anyway try this. get a wire. any wire. dosent matter. touch it to the pos. terminal on the battery then the 1pin connector on your solenoid. if there is a click, the solenoid is good.
you might want to take off the solenoid and clean the filter too. its possible its clogged if you had vtec kick in once.
are you just revving it w/o going? or are you actually driving and VTEC isn't turning on?
on SOHC vtec's, if you just rev the motor to the rev limiter, vtec doesn't go on, i believe this is the same for dohc vtec motors, haven't gotten around to seein if it's true, but also......if your vtec has worked before...first thing u do is CHECK YOUR OIL and make sure u have good oil goin thru ur engine......alot of people forget the fact that vtec engages off of oil pressure, sooo, no oil = no vtec and alot of wear on internals, so
1st thing i'd do is get an oil/oil filter change, doesn't hurt in the first place, see if that works, then do what KaMiN said and check the solenoid, also clean any crap that's around there also.
that should fix ur prob, unless ur ecu is throwing codes at you and makin ur engine running like sheit.

I dont rev my motor out unless Im driving it. Idont think theres any damage to the oil pan. I checked my oil and its not low. I run synthetic mobil 1. Ill try testing it with a separate wire. Ill also try cleaning the filter. Im not sure how to do that. Do I take the solenoid off or what?
yea take the solenoid off them youll see a funny *** shaped gasket with a screener filter in the gasket. it should be attached to the solenoid but sometimes it attaches it self to the block. (the gasket) be careful with it.

I'm having that same problem except my crx has a h22a in it. i haven't figured out how to fix it yet but for the time being I run a MSD rpm switch with a relay to it and set it at 5k. So far it works fine.
Check your wiring at the ecu and in the engine bay. Make sure everything is connected tightly. I had a loose pin at the ecu that was intermittently causing VTEC not to work.
I'm having the exact same problem with my ls/vtec in my 88 hatch. I have the solenoid just wired to a switch and i'm running a chipped non vtec ecu and when i hit the switch i can hear it click but no power or additional noise at all!!??
What the hell?

Heres your problem....Like a guy said before your car has to be moving 19mph for vtec to kick.......Check out your speedo cable if its unplugged from your tranny than your vtec wont kick
get a V-AFC it will ture one your VTEC when you want no matter what speed your at
if he dosent have enough oil pressure in the head its gonna cause damage to turn vtec on.
