Default Moving fuel filter

Ok, I've decided to replace all my fuel lines... I've taken a look at the stainless steel fuel line FAQ a couple times, and I'm considering doing that, but only if I can find all the stuff I need from shops in town... I'm not into online, and I'm not into overpriced. Anyways, the primary filter on an '84 GL is under the car... I want to move it to the engine bay. I don't see any problems with that, but this car has what appears to be a mechanical fuel pump... would moving the fuel filter to the engine bay have any effect on the car's performance, providing I kept the filter upstream of the pump? I'm planning on keeping the setup of all the lines, just replacing the actual hoses and clamps...

And now, while I wait for any input, I am off to search for stainless steel fuel hoses and fittings... Thanks in advance...

the location of the filter would not have an affect on performance, a filter is a filter. as for not into buying online, if you buy from reputable companies, you dont have to worry about fraud, or identity theft, etc. i have bought from places online, such as summitracing, jegs, and other businesses that are not car related, and never had a problem. plus you will find stuff cheaper online than you will in town.. most of the time..
