Default received used alternator, peanut packaging jammed inside it!!!

without mentioning names, I purchased a used alternator. careless shipping packaging has yeilded crushed up peanuts INSIDE the alternator. Ive tried to get most of it out but the **** just sticks everywhere (static) and breaks into smaller pieces. im talking about nearly every "fin" is filled with peanut debris.

A) what risk is there in using the alternator if I cannot get all the **** removed
B) any idea how I should go about removing it?
C) should I just return the alternator

Can you put some compressed air to it and blow it out?

vacuum that bitch with a wet/dry vac. or go to office depot and get that pressurized air stuff in the can used for cleaning keyboards.

I'm guessing that when you fire it up the first time, what doesn't spin out will melt on there. Might smell funny for a few days, but I don't know that a few small leftover pieces will cause harm. But who knows

To the seller - in the future put things like that in a poly bag (hell, even a grocery bag) before packaging in the peanuts.

open the alternator. take it apart. shouldn't be too hard to clean out.
if you have a manual, it tells you how to disassemble the alternator.

naw, just run it... peanut flakes won't do any harm, unless something is lodged in the coil... you'll be ok brotha

Ryan, if you don't have a compressor use the dust spray cans that they sell at office supply stores for key boards. I used it on my dizzy when it was packed in peanuts. Worked great.

i remember back when i had my Turbo GSR CRX i actually got a NAIL that came up from the road lodged in the coil trhough the small little heat vent, there's like a 1 in a 1,000,000 chance of that happening, pretty crazy
