Default Lowering! *searched*

I have a 98 GSR and my suspension consists of KYB GR2 struts and Comptech Sport Springs (1.5 drop front & rear).

When I got the car with those parts it had 16" rims on it and looked fairly dropped... now I isntall 17s and the car jacked up and I need to lower it some more.

I have a great deal for KYB AGX shocks brand new, so Im considering them depending of the answers I will get here.

My mechanic says I should only change the srpings to get more lowered, and some other people tell me that my struts are the cheapest aftermarkets shocks available and that they wouldn't last long with another drop...

2 Questions:

1) Who's right?

2) I also have GSR Blades (15s) in my garage so I can use those instead of the 17s when I want to go to lucksville and stuff... if I drop myself again to accomodate with the 17s, will the drop be ridicolously low for 15s.

Thanks in advance!

The KYB AGX will be a better selection than the commodity GR2 when using performance lowering springs but their use will have nothing to do with your ride height. Since the spring perch is in the stock location on both and is not adjustable, only the springs will effect your lowering. Only the Koni Sports have a stock shaped spring perch that is adjustable for height but it is not advised that you lower the spring perch location in conjunction with perforamcne lowering springs. If you are going to use the AGX, only changing your springs will change the height of the car.

When you use a 15, 16 or 17 inch rim, you should be changing your tire size to keep the same outside diameter the same or similar so you don't have gearing, speedometer, etc. issues. This will then have no effect on your ride height and is what when done correctly is know as a plus 1, Plus 2, etc. fitment. Regardless of the rim diameter, the tire diameter is what is in effect here. If you change your tire diameter at the same time as your rims, then your ride height will be effect as will your gearing, speedo, etc. and you are on your own which is not advisable.

Set your ride height with springs or a coil-over system and keep the rest of the parts correct for your car as a complete package.
