Default has anyone run a 75 shot without retarding the timing?

i have pistons, rods, and a wet kit. on the dyno i sprayed a 55 shot at 16 degrees, no problems. and a 75 shot at 14 degrees, no problems. i dont have any "real" engine management or msd to control timing, but i dont like the way the car feels at 14 degrees, na.

has anyone run a 75 shot without retarding the timing, without problems? thanks.

a few years ago a ran a 75 shot (NX wet kit) on my sohc daily driver for quite some time on stock timing. never had any problems. just changed the plugs regularly and ran 93 octane. before i sold the car i did a compression test and surprisingly the numbers were great.

none of you retarded the timing? wow. all the install guides say to retard 4 degrees for that big of a shot. i also have a vafc, tuned with a perfect air/fuel ratio. thanks for the info. i would like to hear if anyone else has anything to say.

i ran a 75 shot on my ls with the a 4 degree retard and it ran fine when not being sprayed. maybe your problem is not the timing. i cant find my manual right now but i read the timing on my currently stock 95 gsr at 15 degrees yesterday is this where its supposed to be at stock

back in the day I melted a couple spark plugs with the ZEX 75 shot and no tuning.

What you should do is pay close attention to your bottle pressure (with the help of a bottle warmer) and have the car tuned on the dyno with a wideband. Otherwise you're going to be one of those people who are resposible for giving nitrous a bad name..

My friends are nitrous junkies (on V8s) and their setups are night and day after a tuning session. I've personally seen 40-50hp gains and better a/f ratios! (mid 500whp though)

i did use a one step colder plug, checked them after each run and changed them after ~ 4-5 runs.
also had a bottle warmer and kept the bottle pressure up

i am not having a problem. but there is a very noticeable difference from 16 to 14 degrees. stock timing marks are 14, 16, and 18 degrees. everything is set up right, including plugs, timing, a/f. a dyno with wide band will tell you nothing about knok or pinging. all i was qurious about was timing. thanks though.
