Default engine swap, what is a fair price?

car 1 blown engine
car 2 wrecked, good engine (same engines)
What do you feel is a fair price to swap these motors and install new water pump and timing belt? I can't do this myself and don't want to get the shaft from a shop! any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

If we're talking B-series into eg,ek, or dc...we use to charge 750-900 depending on what the customer had and what was needed (this was 3-4 years ago). H-series slightly more but still in that ballpark.

dude trust me its not that hard....very very simple...just because its the same motors...all you need is a cherry picker....a set of mm wrenches and sockets..and a a crow bar...maybe a maybe a hose clamp to get the axle washer in right...and pliers...and you should be good to go..it should only take around 2 hours if you take a few minutes and really check out what you need to do...and make a list so you don't forget anything...and one friends to help out...

I know the swap isn't hard, it's just that I can't physically do the swap- bad back. I wanted to know a reasonable amount to pay to have this done. Besides pulling 2 motors and reinstalling 1 the clutches need to be swapped or 1 replaced and I would like to have a new waterpump and timing belt installed. Anyone give me a fair price to have this done? I wish I was able to do this myself, I miss working on cars!

I wish you were local, I'd do it for a case of heineken.
If you go to a shop, even for a straight "d" to "d" swap, still expect to pay 500-600

I would find somebody on h-t that is local for you. A shop will not be a reasonable price IMO. And you'd be able to help out a fellow h-t member in need of some $$$

Assuming that it's the same type engine;

Figure any shop worth anything could do it in 8 hours (excessive amount of time) and that they charge $50 an hour (maybe low for a real shop), that works out to $400 for labor.

If the worker is worth more than $50 an hour, then he should be able to do it in 4 hours (easy).
