Default 2000 Accord Speaker Fit

Hey,
I wanted to put new speakers in the front 2 doors of my car. I know that the speaker size is 6.5" (please correct me if i am wrong). Does anyone happen to know what the max mounting depth of these speakers are? One set i looked at says 2.25" mounting depth (audiobahn as65q). Im not sure if these would fit or not? Also, is there anything i need to look for when changing out the back 6x9's to insure an easy fit. I dont wanna do alot of custom work, i would just like them to drop in! If anyone has any suggestions on speakers they have used, please tell me those too! Thanks for the help in advance

Sam

I'd say most likely not too much more than the factory depth...maybe 1/2 deeper.

I don't know the maximum depth possible. What I do know is that I have Alpine Type R components installed in my doors using 1" spacers, and they fit fine.

Without spacers, my old Polk db's were right at the limit. With the window down, there was less than 1mm of space, and the window would sometimes make contact while moving up and down. If you can find the specs on these speakers, you'll know the limit w/o spacers.

the depth isn't so deep.
If you want to replace with quality speakers in the front, you will just have to cut of the back of the thing that holds the speaker. Most good speakers will generally have a big magnet. Its a pretty simple task. In my 00 accord, i cut out the back and it fits fine without any problem of rubbing against the window, no spacer needed.

As for the 6x9 in the back, people have said it gets in the way of the trunk lift bar. I have a 6x9 with a pretty big magnet, seems to fit fine.

It would be helpful to know what speakers you have.

With the plastic trim cut out, my old Polk db's barely fit. With the Alpines that I have now, there's no way in hell they were going to fit.

And yes, with some speakers, like certain Infinity's, the magnet on the rear speakers would come in contact with the trunk springs.

Mine were OLD... Those are the newer versions. The mounting depth should be similar, but probably not exact.
