Yea, remove the pan and clean it. Grind off the material around crack, then weld tha sucker up! Should be easy to do. Just taking them nuts off the pan sucks ***, especially you dont have access to a lift.

Whatever you do, dont just weld it up. Take it off the car, clean it up real well, and then find both ends of the crack. Once youve found the ends...go about 1/4" farther out, and drill a small hole (1/8" or so). Once you have both holes drilled about a 1/4" away from the ends of the crack, you can then weld it up, and just fill the holes with filler wire.
This helps to keep the pan from cracking again. If the crack jus stops as a crack, it will continue to crack...but if it stops with a rounded shape(circle from the hole you drilled), it will eliminate it from cracking. Also...you need to go 1/4" past the crack on each side, because just because you cant see the crack, doesnt mean it stops. A crack usually starts on the inside of the metal, so it may not be cracked all the way through yet, (or it is and you cant see it because its so minute), so by going beyond what you can see, you are sure to get the entire crack.
Shouldnt be a hard job at all...and quit bitchin about taking the header/exhaust off! haha. If you had to buy a new pan, youd be doing the same thing. Good luck man.
