Default Blown Engine (jdm B16) & what to do next?

Heres my situation my car had been runing fine with no problems then last friday on my way to work i pulled up to a light i put my car in neutral and when i went to put it in 1st my car rpm droped to 0 and car turned off i turned it back on and drove, but there was a CLunKing noise (like a Piston er somthing) i was about a mile away from work so i just kept driving i wasnt sure what was wrong, but when i too a look there was NO OIL i then put 4 bottoles of oil and drove it back home after work (Ran Fine) i didnt drive it the next day, but drove it the day after i turned it on and started fine i began to drive (still runing fine) then the CLunKing noise began again and well then car turned off got worse n worse till ...well DUNZO
i belive it was blown due to the fact of it being driven with no oil!
if ur wondering y i didnt check the oil my relpy is that
1: the light didnt come ON
2: i had gotten an Oil Change from JIFFY LUBE no more than a month b4 this (i should have been good for 3 months or 3000 miles right?)

now i have TWO Questions???

people have told me to go fight this against jiffy lube because this is there fault. (there is no apperent oil leak newhere and no smoke coming from burnt oil) which has me to maybe belive they didnt put enough oil or they left the plug loose or out
so QUESTION ONE: do i have a case against JIFFY LUBE???

and QUESTION TWO: what to do next???

just buy a different bottom end (like a gsr) and keep my head

or some guy my mom know says he can rebuild the same engine for 2500 parts and labor
he suggested this over just buying the bottom end, because its a safer way to go, more reliable he says combining the head to another block can give you problems

third option would to get a new engine i guess

keep in consideration: im still a highschool student with very little money and have to find a way to pay for all of this myself so far ive raised 1000 bucks

SO PLEASE ne sugesttions, tips, ideas, helpful insight whatever
thanx again (sorry if this was long)

I can get you a JDM B20b for 750 plus shipping, drop your head and intake on the b20b and viola, you'll be in love....

Yeah this happened to my D16y8...driving home on the highway and clunking noise started up about a mile or two from home got home and engine burned all the oil and metal inside was eating itself apart! It was too late for my engine at that point I guess. I had also recently done the oil change not more than 3 weeks before this happened. If your going for reliability im guessing going for the rebuild. If you want more power look onto a B20 or something of that accomadation or a LS block. Just make sure its something you can fund and hope you have a second car because I didnt and I am also a highschool student so I got used to driving and then no driving and let me tell you I baby my new GSR engine like crazy. Its the worst feeling walking home when you could have been driving.

StreetRacinThug is right. but on your case, you would have to prove some how that its JIFFY LUBE's fault or there will be no case. and on your engine anyway you want to go is fine. rebuild is good, but for 2g you can get a whole new engine. the thing about swapping heads is if your gona do it, make sure you have someone that has done it first hand (correctly) and you should be safe. anything is good if you do it right.

If your just looking for a replacement as long as you head is still good, a jdm b16 short block should be had anywhere from $100-250 and a $90 oem head gasket. Thats if your mechanically inclined. But if you want more power upgrade to a 1.8L or 2.0L

you can get a bottom end pretty cheap, get that mechanic friend of yours to put your head on. If you get another b16 there wont be any problems. Ive heard about people having to plug oil passages and crap when mating a b20 block to a b16 head. i wouldnt like knowing that i have a small truck motor in my car anyway. civics came with b16s. in my opinion thats the way it should be.

If you dont know where the bottomend came from, then theres the risk of having it thrown on and realising that it was abused or whatnot and itll need to be rebuilt. Then youll just be back at where you started. Then again it is a cheaper alternative

Stay away from stiffy lube Maybe they forgot to pour oil into your car? It's highly possible. Try contacting them. You have nothing to lose. I had a bad experience once and since then do everything that I possibly can myself.
Peace

WAIT!!! you might not even have to deal with all this trouble...try this:

1. Check the oil filter for a gap between the filter and the motor... there might be part of the old filterring creating a gap, either way i think i know what the problem is
2. Remove your oil pan and check and see if you have any metal shards or "specks" in the inside of the pan... this might be from your crank
3. If so, replace your crank, which ismore than likely the problem... if there was a more serious problem with your head, it wouldn't even run

P.S. Stay away from Jiffy Lube and dont try litigation... waste of time waste of money

Good Luck

Simply put

If you plan to TRY, to blame, and get paid from Jiffy Lube, taking off your oil pan is a HORRIBLE IDEA, it's like tampering with evidence... You will have a hard time proving afterwards that what they did caused you to be low, or out of oil.

IF you choose to go after Jiffy Lube, you need evidence of everything that is done to get down to the base cause of problem, which means you need a third party and documentation of everything done and found. Honestly, after a month or so of road time, your going to have a tough time proving your case. Ultimately, dont take this wrong, wether they screwed up or not, its your fault IMO for trusting anyone other than yourself to do something as simple, and critical, as an oil change, to someone else...

I do hope if they screwed up, which they might have, that you can PROVE it, and remember, in court, thats mostly what counts, that you can PROVE it...

VERY IMPORTANT, i would have a CERTIFIED MECHANIC, check to see if the Oil Filter might be double gasketed. DOCUMENT IT! as for "removing the oil pan" have someone else, a business do it. IF you were to do it yourself, your findings would seem like BS in court, cause you would be able to say whatever you wanted. Get independent documentation on all this, or you wont win anything

In the end, i dont think your going to win a case from what you've said, and i really do think a b20 vtec is the way to go for you. Don't in anyway under estimate the power of a b20b with a vtec head would create
