Default do any cat-backs actually add hp?

I've talked to many people about many different exhaust sysyems that have not changed the performance of the car except by making them sound fast.........what exhaust systems are actually dyno proven to add hp and torque?

I added 29 whp from 2.5 to 3 inch catback exhaust (includes dp though)
so I assume it added some performance
