having a big problem
OK i have 2 questions, that need answering quick
first off i have a 99 dx hb with a 00 usdm obd2 b16 swap
#1 ok about a year ago my rad fan stopped working, i did not fix it instead i delayed the problem and wired in a switch to turn the fan on, i dont want this anymore so i tryed trouble shooting. Obviously its not the fan cause it works, i dont think that its the cooling temp sensor, but i am thinking its the fan switch, so i jumped the two wires from the fan switch plug and the fan did come on for a sec, but then the fan fuse blew??? Im guessing its a short some where in the wiring grounding out some where i am kinda lost on this whole thing
I need to fix the problem because i cant get a illegal smog anywhere so i went to smog ref and he said he will not pass my car unless everything is working right (meaning no manuel fan switch)... i am really stressing this one cause i have until the end of this month to fix this prob.
#2 my seconed question is if i was to wire in the fan so it would just stay on while the motor is running would that effect the smog for my car, meaning if i was to do this would the smog ref be able to catch it and go tell me to fix it again
any help would be greatly appreciated
Ps i did search this and a couple other websites....No Luck

try wiring ur fan to the clock or radio, that way it'll come on when the engine does. You could use that temporarily, in order to pass ur emissions test. After that u can have more time to troubleshoot.
Cali emission laws are so retarded.
Thank God they only do a sniffer test where i'm from.
Also, they don't even pop your hood to check your engine.
Clock idea sounds like a good temporary solution though.

wire it to your ignition, you dont want to overload your radio wireing. i dont see how they would catch that, just do a nice clean job. I mean if the fan is on during your test they cant fail you, cause its hott..
well im thinking he could catch it because not too many cars fans turn on when the car starts up except trucks with clutch fans, if the fan is on the whole test he might notice it. Plus this guy seemed kinda like a stickler(*****) about things wrong, he told me to also put my stock suspension on because he said that he could not tie my car down cause it was too low.
i guess i might just have to risk it
noone knows what the prob could be?
