Pic request of catch cans on EF's
Was wondering where people mount catch cans in their EF's? anybody have any pic or ideas? doesnt look like there is too many options to place 1?
where do you run the lines to though?
i've been reading the dozens of posts but cant define exactly where to run them on the ef's (d16a6, zc sohc)

That leads me to another? Can you just rip all that charcoal canister stuff out without your engine codeing?

i replaced the charcoal canister with an old civic radiator reservoir. fits like stock in its place with the tapered bracket, just like our reservoirs do. yes, you can just remove the whole charcoal canister and plug the solenoid valve on the firewall.

(the intake is custom too, 3" ducting and duct tape)

heres mine, mine takes the place of the charcoal canister as well, plus some stuff
i made the box myself out of 20ga steel, then had it powdercoated. it also has two seperate chambers, one for the ports of the rear of the block, and one for the valve cover, thats the reason for two filters.

well i just went to the garage and ripped all my charcoal canister stuff out. I ended up replacing the firewall hose with 5/16 hose and put a check valve in the middle and ran it down to the original hole in the wheel well

the charcoal canister is made to clean the fumes coming out of the gas tank. when the car is off, the tank vents to atmosphere, and fuel vapor is not very eco friendly. passing it thru deactivated carbon (charcoal) passively cleans bad stuff as it goes thru. (brita water filters and many other types of filters are just deactivated carbon).
but really, its not that big a deal. and after so many years, its pretty much not doing anything anymore, at least thats what some ppl say. but whatever. its just taking space in the engine bay.
the point is not to REPLACE the charcoal canister, its just to use the space it originally takes up to put the catch can.
i also agree that behind the intake manifold placing a flat catch can is a pretty good place if you must maintain the charcoal canister. but i think putting a vertically mounted catch can in place of the charcoal canister is the best place.
*btw, deactivated charcoal also helps purify your body of bad hangovers, thats why the myth of eating burnt toast after drinking helps with hangovers! deactivated charcoal is the main ingredient in chaser+ hangover products too...

answer to your question yes you can
no check engine code... just make sure you re-route your vent line from the tank out the side and dont let those fumes linger in the engine bay

a canister doesn't clean the vapors, its simply a storage area for the vapors before they can be burned in the engine
