Default Trunk Battery Relocation in Hatch

Just wondering what rules are they about putting the battery in the trunk instead.

does it have to be an enclosed box because it is in a hatchback?

Can be mounted anywhere? does it require specific Mounting?

it has to be mounted in a box with an external vent. (if the box is inside the drivers compartment w/o a bulkhead) and if it is remotely mounted, there needs to be a master cutoff switch. i dont have my rule book in fromt of me, but i will look when i get home and quote it for you.

yeah even if its a dry cell you still have to have a vent tube run out of the car. also the master kill switch must be at the rear of the car (rear bumper, tail light etc...). there is a wiring diagram of how to wire the master kill switch somewhere on here....i think.

What guidlines or what set of rules is this coming from. Class etc.

Is there any guidelines for just running at the track unclassed?

i will agree with that to some degree. they are there for a reason. i think drag racing is one of the safest firms of motorsports because of the rules. although i am hating my neck guard. tried it on for the first time.

NHRA rule 8.1 Battery must be firmly and securly mounted to the frame of the vehicle.

Anybody have an answer to this. Can I mount it somewhere other then the Frame or does it have to be on the frame?

well if you are putting it in a honda hatch, you don't have a frame, you have a unibody car. which means the floor, the firewall, the trunk are all part of the frame. what i did with my relocation, is mount is where the spare tire used to be, i then made a hole off to the side and vented the line out side of the car. it was pretty simple.

Its an NHRA rule and any track that follows NHRA rules wont let you run unless it is setup correctly- sealed box, vented to atmoshere with battery and alt kill switch mounted on rear of car. I know, I was denied running cause my kill switch only killed the battery and this was just a street legal fun at the track day, wasnt fun for me.

The battery has to be in a sealed box. The "vent" connects the inside of the box to the outside of the car.

you only need a battery kill switch if the battery is relocated, right? if its left in the stock location, nothing is needed?

a kill switch is needed even when it is in the stock location if you trap 135 or faster, or go 9.99 or quicker
