They're basically the same thing as any other exhaust, just not name brand. I'm sure people will come in here and argue with me on that point, but in most cases, you won't see much of a difference between an OBX N1 and an Apex'i N1.

they all do the same job.
soung good and they last for a long time.
i you spent alot of money on a brand exhaust you r paying more for the brand.
no brand get the job done.
for example: Tsudo
looks good and sound good.

No **** they sound horrible, show me a d-series with a bigass fartcan that doesn't sound horrible. But that isn't the point. I don't know what kind of catback your friend actually had, but if it was a Tsudo or an OBX, there shouldn't have been anything immediately wrong with it. Sure, it might age a little more quickly than a Greddy or something, but right out of the box the performance should be about the same.

My Tsudo N'1 aged pretty quickly, but an SOS pad cleans that stainless right back to the day I got it.

i had a greddy header it was high flow and light. but i just recently bought an airmass header off ebay for 97 and 12 shipped and it fits sounds and works fine no leaks and it is shiny woo hoo my greddy got heated and turned brown they were both stamped so i know it was the real deal. the weight was the only thing in noticed.

Yeah, generally no-name brand stuff is slightly heavier than brand name stuff is, but thats not really that big of a deal in most cases.

i can vouche for the fitment of the tsudo sucking a$$. it bolted up fine, but hund 3" low and was dragging badly. had to spend another $100 to get it rewelded and brought up. not just the hangers cut and the pipe lifted either, more like so bad that the pipe had to be rebent in 3 spots and rewelded. dont get me wrong, it bolted up, and sounds like a D w/ catback, but hung low, way too low.

My old z6 sounded badass with a ebay catback. Nice low roar with just a bit of scream in top end vtec. Its the ONLY car ive ever seen that doesnt sound like a goddamn weed eater.

But id say most sounded like ****. Cant believe how nice mine sounded though.

LOL! My Tsudo hung SUPER low for about a week... and then I found out I hung the resonator piping upside down, lol! It hung like 2 inches off the ground! I was an idiot for not taking my time and just wanting to hear the sound of my new exhaust!

well, one end had the 3 bolt flange for the cat so it couldnt have been in backwards in my case. i have since swapped to a custom 2.25" header back, no cat, w/ stainless header, and its ricey.

Ive got that muffler. Haven't had a chance to test it yet though because i don't get my license back until May 3'rd so i can go get it put on. The welds are good, and it seems to be built well. I hope it sounds good when i test it, but if it doesn't i'll just buy something else.

It's basically the same thing, you have to look at it from a higher point of view.

Me looking at it from a fab's perspective, its just a stainless pipe with an N1 muffler, sure the materials and methods of manufacture might be cheaper, but it's essentially the same exact thing. The difference in horsepower between a Tsudo N1 and an Apex'i N1, if there is one, is very minimal compared to the difference in prices.

For hp gains from the exhaust, its important to have a good cat and a good muffler. Other than that, its all pretty much the same.
