civic knocks at 4000
my civic knocks at 4000 rpms but i have already checked the oil so i dont think i spun a bering and i have checked the valves and i have reset the timing how it all started i was runing it at the drag strip and when i left i noticed it knocking at high rpms so i check the oil and it was only a quourt low so i put a quourt in it and drive some more and it is still knocking anybody have any ideas oh yeah and keep in mind that it runs find untill above 4000 then it sounds like rocks or something being thrown around
Only reason i said that, is because my friends car did the same thing. Ran fine at low rpm and knocked like hell around 4000 rpm. It was a spun bearing in his car. He actually drove the car like that for a year. At the end it started to knock at any rpm.
yeah it is a spun bearing i took the oil pan off and shook all the piston rods and one shook so i think it only spun the bottom bearing so i am going to replace all of them
you think need the crank resurfaced or you think it should be alright since it didnt spin both bearings

i fixed it today come to find out the bearing wasnt spun completly it still had like a few more cranks before it went i just put some new bearings in it today and it runs fine for now but only time will tell hey any body know the break in period for new bearings
well, fif all of them are new (which i hope thats what you did) id say break it in like it was a new bottom end, and do so for about 300 miles since the pistons and rings are obviously already steated
