Default Philip HID high beam kit

any body's got the canadian R's with the Philip hid high beam kit install?
i just got my high beam kit everything is fine but the daytime running light won't come on??
any idea why?

i've upgraded the hight beam fuse from 10amps to 15amps but i also have 2 other fuses

1) daytime running 10amps
2) daytime running rely 7.5amps

should i change any of those?

i want my daytime running to function with the hid kit.

i can't find this on the ssearch.
thanks guys

I am not sure how daytime running lights work, but don't they work by useing less power to light the high beam bulbs? thus making them dimmer. if thi is the case maybe there is not the right amount of power going to the HID ballast to light them up.

just a thought. i may be way off

Unfortunately, the HID highbeams will automatically disable your daytime running lights. The HID bulb itself cannot be running with partial power, so it's either "ON" or "OFF".

I suggest just removing the Daytime Running light fuse to avoid any unnecessary power going to the HID's. Just turn on the lights at the first click so you won't have any trouble with the cops.

For those who are looking for HID highbeam kits, they are available at www.visualdynamics.ca

In my opinion, daytime running lights are ugly looking anyway. So consider yourself blessed. The OPP don't go after people that don't have daytime running lights do they?

a little OT..but i still havent gotten an answer.

say you have a 4000K kit.. can you just get the 6000K HID bulbs and put them on the 4000K ballasts and still get the 6000K look? or does the ballast have a major impact? or say i have a lower kit..like 3000K and i want 6000K bulbs or whatever.

thanks

Yes, you can do 6000k bulbs into a 4300K kit.

You can access the DRL fuse under the steering column. There's a little cover that has the fuse panel under it, and look at the diagram on the back side of the cover to locate the DRL fuse.

Here are some pics of the HID highbeams:

Those signs that the highbeam are shining are 2.2 km away.....

Do you have HID's?

Those pictures don't compare HID high beams against non-HID high beams. They only show that high beams with low beams project light further than low beams alone.

Should that conclusion surprise anyone?

Nice pics!!! thanks for the info, is there any "side effect" by remiving the DRL fuse?

Hey Integra2000, you will notice that every HID will have a very bright intense "flash" as you turn them on (just before it turns blue and warms up). That flash is actually is very bright, bright enough to make your road signs turn into disco lights if you flash your highbeams continuously in a completely dark road

Here's my formal evaluation on the HID Highbeams. I have posted this a while ago, but just in case some of the others might not have read it before:
http://www3.sympatico.ca/h.leung/Cars/Philips9005HID

BTW, there are no side effects in removing the DRL's. The U.S. spec cars don't even have them from the factory.

Yeah, I am wondering if you have HID's? Try to aim your lowbeam HID's at the height of high beams and tell me if any Halogen highbeams can match it's lighting and intensity Your questioning appears to follow the same trend as people who used to ask if PIAA superwhites are close to HID's...

Not really...more like helping out a friend. And of course, visualdynamics have served many ITR guys here already, and I am sure they know about Trevor's top-notch service. I am doing a review of them just so whoever wants more lighting can seek a perfect alternative (rather than going fogs, driving lights, etc...)
