Default leaking "oil heater", Civic VX

Has anybody experienced, or, is there a history of internal leaks in the "oil heater" located between the oil filter and block on Civic VXs? Any problems bypassing the "oil heater"?

Why not replave the O-ring on the "oil heater." That is typically where all the oil is leaking from.

Unfortunately it's not an external leak but internal I'm wondering about. ie, oil in the coolant when the car otherwise runs perfectly. No overheating, smooth operation, 540,000 original miles, engine never been opened.

540,000 that's just hardcore. Might be a headgasket, especially if it has never been changed.

I'd just bypass the oil heater since you really don't need it and see if you still get oil in your coolant after you change it out. Then you know it's a head gasket.
