8,200. Keep hitting redline, let us know when it blows up.

In all seriousness, how do you want someone to quantify that? 100 trips to redline, 1,000?

I don't understand why people like to rev the ever-loving **** out of their motors. Your motor probably won't even be making any power that high, so whats the point of even doing it, besides being able to say "I can rev my motor to 9000 rpm"

WTF? please tell me your joking.

To answer the original question, as it's already been said, don't take your motor up that high, if your motor is close to stock a good shift point is somewhere around 7000-8000, that's when it should stop making power.

I seen alot of people take their b16 up to 8500-9000 RPM alot of times but even though im sure it's fine, i wouldn't keep just doing it.

unless you have special internals, don't take it past 8200. It will be pointless anyways because you won't be making ANY power up there.

Kinda like the 8valve cx motor, redline is like 5000 on that thing. Not because the motor can't handle it. But because it makes absolutely NO power beyond 5000rpms.

It's not fine, it's stupid. You aren't making any power up there, so what benefit does it give you, they only thing you are doing is fatiguing the engine parts even more than you would be shifting at redline.

The reason why it is difficult to create much more power after 6000 rpm is because at that point, the force at which the piston moves down in the cylinder becomes greater than the force at which it moves up. Now I'm not saying that means you should shift at 6000, what I'm saying is, you should take that bit of information into account when you are talking about revving a motor that high. You have to realize that for every 1000 rpm's you go past that, this effect is going to be multiplied.

Now don't come in here and tell me that alot of NA setups rev higher than that blah blah, I know. I'm talking about revving that high on a stock motor, with a stock valvetrain, is just downright stupid.
