Do you already have a B-series swap in it? If so, they are all pretty much the same trannies. I have had both Y1 and S1 and noticed no difference.

Go with the newer B16A with YS1 tranny, more hp, and best cable tranny ever made for B series Honda's.

Given the choices, I'd say J1. I have one and it been very reliable.

For what?
It might help too know what your planning on doing....
Track - Any, their all about the same.
Daily Driver - None, they all suck ***** for DD.
I myself have a J1 and can't ****** stand goin 5000RPM's at 75mph.
I like listening to music in my car, not my expensive engine @ high rpm for extended amounts of time.

What you really want is any of the above, with an LS 5th gear.
All the close gearing for 1/4 miles, autoX, etc. so you've got that acceleration -
Low RPM to ride at in 5th for DD.

The J1 and S1 are the same. 4.40 FD. Not a highway gearset. In fifth at 85, you're already in VTEC cruising down the highway.

I lke my J1, but that is for all motor.

I am planning on getting a Y1 or YS1 soon for boost. and for traction problems that the J1 would cause.

Y1 has the LSD. If you drive for sport you will find out that the CRX spins the inside wheel when turned hard with stiff suspension.

i thought there was a problem with it but i think its the motor.. once thats running right well get to see how well it holds up

It again depends what your goin for. If your gonna leave it pretty much stock, I guess a p72 but otherwise everyone encouraged me to get a p28 and have it chipped for what I had on my GSR engine.

The PR3 was easier to crack with Turbo Edit IIRC.

What kind of ECU are you using? In fifth gear at 85MPH, my engine runs at about 5000RPM. VTEC does not kick in until well over 90MPH.
