What should i do now?!?!?
well folks here i am a few months later down the road and still dealing with the same problem. a while ago i was posting because of a timing belt that almost snapped on me. it skipped 15 teeth and died on me. we replaced the belt n water pump. i took her home n finished the tune up with new spark plugs, ignition wires, distributor cap and rotor and fuel filter. still throwing 73 and 74 so i tried swapping the dizzy n map sensor. still no luck. im being told that it could just be a sensor or the ecu thats bad. sound like a possibility?? either that or i do have bent valves. this is for a 96 b18b1 with 120k on it. ANY suggestions are welcome!
i had the same problem before, unfortunately i was not about to fix it while on obd2.
Here are some of the things i tried.
New plugs, new wires, checked the compression, switched distributor, new rotor and cap, switched ecu, adjust valves, replace fuel filter, and nothing solved the issue. I do think it has to do with a sensor somewhere, but i switched to obd1 and that got rid of the CEL. I would also like to find out what is causing this incase i switch back to obd2.
Good luck man

Misfire in cylinder 3 and 4? Have you checked the injectors for those cylinders? Do a compression test, may have a blown head gasket between cyl 3 and 4.
Also, since you slipped the belt, check the valves for cylinders 3 and 4. Could of bent a valve or 2.

since you spent all that money on new parts, you should have just bought a low mileage longblock from HMO or something..

did the compression test and everything else listed above already. nothing crazy came out off the compression test and like i said i have replaced the timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, ignition wires, distributor cap and rotor, adjusted valves, and fuel filter. why did you swap to obd1 and can anyone confirm their ecu goin thru similar trouble? i never new that shyt could get phucked up like that and keep up the cel for this long. what about the sensor theory? thanks guys for the feedback but keep it coming so we can figure this out!!

Well I guess that eliminates all mechanical problems that would cause a misfire code.
Tried swapping ECUs with anyone? That would tell you if its the ECU or not.
I am still trying to find out what sensor Honda uses to sense misfires.

right on bro!! much love n respect for tryin to help out! ive been dealin with this for too long, but to answer the question no i havent swapped the ecu's yet. im waitin on a friend to bring one back but she forgot to bring it up from the south bay this last weekend. i will try to swap for a new ecu and see how that works out. i will keep you guys posted as the shyt unfolds...

Found it. Crank fluctuation sensor. Monitors crank speed for misfires.
Pretty sure it mounts to oil pump, coulda got screwed up when the belt skipped.
Thats about all I got.
Good luck.

Well first I looked up the codes.
Then I looked up causes of misfires.
You said you covered all the mechanical causes of misfires and everything seemed OK.
The ony thing really left was the ECU and the sensor that monitors the crank speed.
I did an HT search on "crank position sensor" and that brought up the "Crank fluctuation sensor" bolted to the oil pump.
I was bored, and it seemed a good problem to try and solve.
I think kragen.com had one for 99 bucks or so.
If you re-search on HT in the teg forum, you may find some testing procedures.

ok i could be wrong but i was searchin the same stuff and i read that the sensor is located inside the dizzy... if this is correct then it may not be the sensor cuz i already tried putting a new dizzy on. maybe the other dizzy was bad too? let me know if you find anymore testing procedures

Edit.
OBD1 had the sensor in the diz
OBD2 is on the oil pump.

Couldnt find anything on test procedures. Might try calling the local Acura dealer and ask there service department.
Also of note I did read that the OBD2 cars did have a sensor in the diz AND on the oil pump.
