Default Rear view mirror in anyone else's way?

Hey there,

Does anyone else find the rearview mirror in the EG Civics (maybe others) are in the worst spot? So many times I haven't seen a pedestrian or sign because it's right in line with my view. Are there any interesting mods, or fixes to this? I'm not a giant either, pretty much 6'0.

You mean the same spot that every other car in the world has? It's fine. If that tiny mirror is blocking your view of a pedestrian there is something drastically wrong. I would suggest you look at your seating arangement in your car? Is the seat addjusted correctly for your size? Are you far away from the steering wheel?

Also reconsider your driving style. Look ahead. You should be able to see that stop sign from far away, some thing with the pedestrian. I'm 5'10 with an EK and have no problems, I have driven EGs.

The only mod you could do is place it on the dash. I don't think this would work very well but it's where old convertables use to have it (back in the 50s)

Cheers

Clutch pressed in, and my knee is still slightly bent. Shoulders tucked in the seat and my wrists touch the steering wheel. I think I'm sitting in the right position. I have never noticed this on any of my other cars. Maybe I'm too used to driving the big SUV.

I've only started noticing this after almost hitting a pedestrian. I didn't even know he was there and I was FULLY looking. I find myself ducking to look under the mirror to get a good view when making right hand turns. I'm thinking of putting it where the middle sunvisor is.

I'm 6' 6" and it's right in my way. I usually adjust it up almost to the headliner almost to where the quasi-sunvisor meets it.
