steering vibration on highway
So I have had this problem for a while now.
So far I have done :
- New steering rack (fixed another problem with clunking lol)
- outer tie rods
- front wheel bearings
- alignment twice
- balance wheels twice
- checked entire front end , seems fine
what could be the problem ?
1 thing I have to check is trying out another set of wheels to see if that is
what is causing the steering vibration..
any other suggestions ?

i have some of the same problems also. on the highway on a turn somtimes i feel like in the middle of the turn it doesnt want to turn no more. then i also have the clungking noise to. hopfully this thread helps me aslo. somtimes i feel like im ganna regreat buy my civic si.
i had the exact same problem, of where it go to the point of around 70 mph or so, the hood, drivers door, steering wheel, shifter would vibrate and shake violently. i then rotated and got my tires balanced, the problem is gone.
but couple months later (now) the car is kinda making noises under accel after around 40, guessing my gay *** tires need another balance or something
, thats what you get for driving a 15 year old car, always going to have problems.

Does it feel like it locks up or it just itatching anything?
i have steering vibration on the highway. I believe my problem is caused by bad front upper ball joints. when i checked out the front end everything was solid but the right front upper ball joint knocked and i hear the same knock when i'm driving on crappy roads and going over bumps.

I'm gonna quote you on this one. Make sure to post multiple threads about it in appearance.

not to steel this thread but sorta on the same subject. umm...i have 2 diffrent size of tires and rims on my car then the other 2. i had to put the (sorta larger size) tires up front. since i did that my car is leveled out all wack. i bought the car with cut springs up front and some aftermarked springs in the back. there both not that low. this also happens to, when i lift the car up with a jack when i need to and then drop it, it ends up in a diffrent level. its like i have imaginary living air bags.
I had the same problem as well. My front driver side rim lip was bent a lil bit. I would drive on the freeway 70 or so, it would feel like I was holding a jackhammer as a steering wheel
I rotated my bent rim to the back, the problem is gone
So I guess tires and rims check those again

and go down to where it says how to remove the steering rack out. this will help a lot if you have the same problem.
