Help! 4th Gen Shift Knob Removal!

Help! 4th Gen Shift **** Removal!
Hey everyone.
I'm trying to take my console out, but I don't know how to disconnect the shift lever **** from the boot. (the manual says "remove shift ****"....)
I've tried twisting it, pulling the **** up, etc, but it doesn't really wanna move and I'm worried I'll break something.
If anyone could help me out that would be great!!! Thanks!!!!
