Default DOHC ZC Timing issue?

My buddies ZC engine is stumbling at the start when you hit WOT. The car then picks up around 2500 rpm. I manualy marked TDC on the crank pulley when he had his head off, because he had some after market crank pulley. I've tried redoing his timing numerous times with the same result. Also tried moving his distributor around for ignition timing with the same result. When checking the igntion timing for a ZC do you want the light to hit when the TDC mark is lined up with the gun site, or where else should it be. Everything lines up mechcanicaly we put the pins in the cams, then line up the crank at TDC, place timing belt on turn engine around twice recheck marks. Tighten down tensioner, recheck marks, and everything lines up perfectly. I've also tried advancing the crank a few degrees more then the cams and the engine idled horribly even when trying to tweak it in with the dizzy. The engine idles great with the timing lines lined up. I haven't a clue what is going on, I know he is running the PM6 ECU. Can someone help me get this right?

I'm beginning to wonder if his igniters are going bad in his dizzy. I've noticed that the car won't start after it's warmed up to a certain temperture. Then it will start after it cools down. The car also bogs off the line. what do you think?
