Im lookin into gettin a cam for my sohc vtec. What would be a good choice and what kinds of gains can i expect. Also the engines got 70k miles on it so should i upgrade the valve train?
though i dont run them (yet
), Zex(comp) cams are supposed to be pretty good. zex designes the specs and comp manufactures them. the 105100 does not require upgraded valvetrain, and if you dont modify the rev limiter, the 105300 doesnt really either (zex recommends, but most people can get away without it)
one of them had an advertized gains somewhere in the range of 14/9, i dont recall which cam or if the results were atypical, but from the customer suppoert they seemed to have i think those are pretty close to right.
there are some threads about them in the archives.

its all in the tuning. myself am going to be using a crower stage 2. zex or crower make the best sohc cams. you won't see full gains until you get in on a dyno or at least a chipped ecu
