Default Welding flanges/runners onto GSXR 1000 ITB's?

Has anyone successfully welded flanges or runners onto GSXR 1000 ITB's? I would prefer a flanged connection on the actually throttle bodies as the engine they are going on will be seeing boost.

I have heard that the aluminium used in the casting of the GSXR throttles is "dirty" and can't be welded successfully....

My only other option is to epoxy the flanges i require with something like Loctite's 2000deg steel/aluminium putty.

Could anyone see this NOT working?

I don't know how these were done exactly but it looks like some sort of plenum. Take a look at these pics here maybe you'll get some kind of idea.

I welded runners to GSXR600 throttle bodies when I did a set for my BMW. It welded just fine. Not as nice as clean aluminum but pretty damn good for cast. I welded the with the throttle body part in a pan of water as a heat sink so they wouldnt warp. I take no responsibility if you electrocute yourself an die using this method
