Default How to: Getting Good 1/4 mile times

they say a good driver can run a second better, so what's the trick? i've been to test and tune night at the strip and the best i can get is a 14.86 @ 97 mph with b20 vtec crx...2.5 60 ft. best e/t is when i dump the clutch at 6k

please give any advice you have on starts, when to shift (should i shift to 2nd if the tires are still spinning), i guess give any help you have i really don't know anything...

thanks

You need to first work on that 60' time. Try some better tires and play with the tire pressure. You shouldn't shift if the tires are still spinning, this will cause you to bog.
Hope this helps.

so don't shift to 2nd if the tires are still spinning, even when redlining? Just let on and off the gas until the tires grip?

well let off a little kinda feather the gas and are you feathering the clutch when u launch or are you just dumping it and spinnin the **** out of the tires ?
if you are just dumping the clutch you dont want to do that , you have to learn to let the clutch out a little slower and maybe not floor it right away its a combo you get used to with practice . When your practicing only change one thing at a time if you do a couple things different each time you dont know which one is really helping .
