Quick Questions on "Poor Man's Type R setup"
so the timing belt on my gsr went, and bent valves. I'm thinking time for a new head, what better than a b16 which i can obtain through a buddy. So word on the street is throwing a Stock B16A head on a Stock B18C block you will lose compression!
My question is how much. how much are we talking here
Could my Mugen headgasket (raise .3) make up for it (probably not hey?)
then what are my options in realtion to keeping cost down
I would really like to not have to take the block apart and just slap on a head.
Will b16 cams do? and what ECU should I run, keeping it OB1
How would using my stock GSR cams work. I would like to keep it all oem

with the bigger chamber of the pr3 head you will loose .2 compression; wich i would not worry too much about..
cams; use your stock gsr.
ecu, you can keep your gsr but your going to have to change vtec engagement, disable iab's and if you like some timing tuning.

Try this link for estimates:

The PR3 head (B16a, CTR, and ITR) has 42.7cc combustion chamber whereas the P72 (GSR) has a 41.6cc combustion chamber.

Yeah I went to cspeed's website. stock gsr is about 10.6 CR.
stock gsr block and stock b16 head is about 10.38 CR
so i lose compression, but with the mugen headgasket i get it back to almost stock 10.6
I will probably use the gsr cams, I was told last night that they are more agressive.
what is vtec engament for B16, i will look it up but i forgot right now.
P.S. when doing putting on a headgasket make sure you retighten the timing belt, and not just slip it back on like we did!

You ran the calcuilation incorrectly. The stock GSR will have a 10.000817920435364:1 compression ratio with their calculator. The PR3 head should drop the compression ratio to 9.806767412350563:1.
My bad, for got to mention, It's MaD JdM yO!
USDM B18C1 is 10.000817920435365:1 CR
JDM B18C1 is 10.600843193019799:1 CR
My set up to be JDM B18C1 Block with B16A Head with Mugen Headgasket (2 layer)
10.634858566349402.
I have a question am I gonna have a problem running this combo with GSR cams in regards to clearance issues? and what ECU could I use being OB1 that would fit best.
what can I cross over from the top end of my B18 onto this B16. I'm thinking
-Fuel Delivery
-Distributor
-Cams, but can I use the holders (forgot proper name)
Things i don't know if they switch over
-springs and retaniers
I'm really busy this weekend and can't even sit to type so excuse me for being lazy

I drove to work on saturday and the belt slipped. when we did the headgasket on friday we slid the belt off the cam gears to get the cams out. then we slid the belt back on, it was tight as hell, because it was a PITA. I guess not tight enough. When I got to work I had to punch out for a bit and me and one of the non-hack techs took it apart sure enough the intake cam was advanced like three - five teeth. I lined everything up and tighened that belt hardcore. It had shreded on the inside and had a couple of little chunks out. I tried to drive it home but the belt went on the freeway. When the belt slipped after I fixed it i could feel a loss of power i was sure that i had bent some intake valves, now i am sure i'm screwed in the valve department.
