Default TransMission Help?

Hey, when the car is started it makes a noise but when i push in the clutch it goes away, and when im driving when its in a gear it makes a noise till i take it out of gear. I changed my last transmission because it went bad and wouldnt drive no more. I replaced the wheel bearing... i did a auto to manual conversion but i never changed the ECU... This is the second trans i changed on this car. Could the problem be because i didnt change the auto ECU or just bad trans? Does it sound like a wheel bearing? What trans oil is best to use? This is a turbo d16y7 for the motor and 92 HB.

Thanks, for any help

there is a civic forum here and you might get better help there since you have a Civic. Usually when installing a manual trans into an auto car you should change the ECU to the manual one...........or make the nessescary changes to the auto one....

it sounds like the mainshaft bearing is ( are ) noisy,,,.. what kind of tranny fluid is in it ??

the ecu has nothing to do with the noise .. it is internal tranny noise//

could have sworn it was actually engine oil 10w-30.. or correct me if im wrong. it was a few years ago when I changed the clutch.. Do you recommend any transmission fluid? The car is getting a suspension change right now and its on jacks. I might as well do the transmission fluid change if I have to..

I know the ecu isnt making the noise.... I had another tranny that went bad and finally died that acted the same way this one is. I was just wondering since the ecu is still auto would that caused any problems with the trannys? just curious, because i forgot to take out the manual ecu from the doner car.

well my car is still undergoing a suspension overhaul... I drained out the tranmission fluid... when i drained out the fluid there was about 1 quart... I think thats bad.. I should be good now.. I put 3 quarts of castrol syntec blend 10w - 30.. when im done with the suspension Ill know if that helped.. crossing my fingers...

Well, for tranny fluid, pretty much everyone around here will tell you to use genuine Honda tranny fluid. And yes, I am pretty sure that Prelude transmission will bolt up.

It depends on what you want to do with your car. If you plan on turbo charging it, the H22 tranny is great, if not, the F22 or F23 tranny should be fine. As far as engine swaps, I would recommend a complete change over to an h22 + tranny with a factory LSD... that should do the trick for a bit. I don't know much about LSDs but the name of Quaife always pops up, so it s probably a decent one.

IM NOT SURE OF GOING BOOST BUT I WANT TO GO ALL H22 EVENTUALLY.. I GUESS I WILL DO MORE RESEARCH ON IT.. I DEFINATELY NEED A NEW TRANNY SO IF EVERYONE SAYS I CAN GET THE H22A TRANNY ON THE F22B1 BLOCK THEN ILL DO IT... SAVES ME FROM BUYING THE TRANNY LATER ON...

check if there's any freeway, Throw out bearing probably is toasted.

10w30 is the grade honda manual juice is using, the oem stuff have more wear/friction addictive to it and that's about it.

just to make sure, did you put 10w30/mtf into your clutch? because you need to use brake fluid for that. and you need to bleed the bad boy

I have some noise when I drive as well...sounds like a kitten purring....It only happens when I am in gear and accellerating. When I push the clutch, it goes away. The performance isnt hurt and when the time comes, I will repair the tranny if need be. I am in the middle of a Honda automatic rebuild right now so I would think the manual rebuild would be a tad bit easier. I have never done one and it doesnt seem to be that hard but finding the time to get it done with 3 kids is difficult.

na yeah.. i used brake fluid for my clutch..

Whats weird is that I was just doing my brake bleeding today cuz it needed it. And i noticed something... with the car jacked up and the wheels off... the front right (passenger) side is still spinning.. when i press the clutch, the wheel stops spinning.. obviously somethings gotta be wrong.. seems like the clutch is still hitting even tho its not engaged into gear... weird..
