Default Break In period

Just bought a 2006 and loving it. Is there a break in period?
Miles? Is there things I should do or don't do.
Dealer says to change oil after 3700 miles
Thanks

Break in period is 600 miles according to manual. Now this is highly debated and different ppl will recommend different methods. One thing to do for sure is vary your rpm's during this break in period. Try not to sit at one rpm for a long time, also vary it using some engine braking as well. You can open the car up to 8k if you want, its not going to hurt. Like I said though, the key thing is to vary the rpm's to ensure proper ring seating.

Personally, I would beat on the car from day one. I would drive it hard ensuring rpm's are being varied via both acceleration and deceleration (engine braking). I have seen alot of pictures of broken in motors. I have seen the granny way of driveing slow until 600 miles and breaking it in hard. From the pictures, you could see that breaking in the car hard is better for the rings to seat properly. Whereas the engines that were broken in slowly actually showed the rings weren't seated properly even after 600+ miles.

Drive the car like you normally do and you'll be fine. Don't abuse it.

I say just drive the car normal. But not to that extreme. (normal driving is pretty hard anyway)

I'd like to think of it as misdirected anger. One thing that I've been pondering about....if you wear a wife beater, does that mean you beat wives?
