H22 in 91 EXR
So this is my official first post on Honda Tech so go easy on me.
I droped a H22 in a 91 EXR and it has been a disaster from the get go.
Basically I got a Bare Block and a car that has been sitting for 2 years and dident run and was told to make it go with the H22 Block I was given. And also that all parts were there.
So I was missing half the parts and a car that should of had everything else fixed before an H22 was invested in. (clutch line rotten, PS lines gone...)
I am useing a H22 block with a H22A4 head and the harness was a A4 and Dizzy was a A4 and so on. So I had a mess of **** to deal with.
And not to mention that fact that who ever tore the block apart did not label what piston and rods came from what hole. So I had to plastic guage everything and do my best.
So here it is 6 weeks later and I finally got everything in and it runs good. Idles smooth, revs good. No engine light (and I know it works cause it cycles when I turn the key on)
Now heres my question after reading all that, Although it runs good and pulls good and all. VTEC doesent work. It does not kick in. And it revs to 6000RPM and the limiter kicks in.
I unpluged the VTEC solenoid while it was running and the CEL came on. And I can run a jumper to the solenoid and it clicks so its working. Plug it back in and the CEL goes out (when I shut it off and restart).
Now I did have to wire in a external coil as the accord had an internal. And I am useing a 94 prelude SRV distributor. And a P13 ECU.
With the exception of the Distributor and the coil, everything was supplied by the customer. So I may have a bad ECU. I am going to try another. But what else would keep the ECU from engaging the VTEC but not turn the CEL on?
I have done this swap several times and never had any problems. So any help would be great. I was told this is the place to get good helpful answers so here I am.
Thanks,
Troy
