What?
Ok, here's my reply to that. Rev limiter is a electronic control that cuts the engine from revving to failure. It's definitly not a bolt on haha.
STD is for for Standard, or basic if you wish, the base model Civic/CRX.

They soder in a socket for racing chips...
Too be honest, you don't need it unless you have a better engine with better internals. I refuse to chip an ECU until some internals are replaced by better ones. Like springs/retainers so the valve can actually bounce back at a higher RPM. If your springs are weak, your piston will come up faster then the valve can retrack, cause the valve to hit the piston, ruining your motor. We did that about 2 years ago to a SOHC ZC. We chipped it to 10000rpm rev limiter. We took it to 8400rpm regularly, it didn't like it, but it took it. One day we decided to blow the motor. So we held it at 9000rpm for a bit and nothing happened. Then we punched it to beyond 9400 when all hell broke loose. We threw a rod right thru the block. Infact, the rod brought the piston out with it, so the whole was the size of my hand...oh memories.

my ecu: the red rectangle on the right side is where the socket is the black thing is the chip the white circled thing is a dada link port... this is the type of ecu i was talking about and while ludesrv makes a good point i picked up the ecu dirt cheap and the chip was only $30 from john vega at phearable.net so it actualy wound up being cheaper for me than just buying a p08 ecu plus its better in the long run cuz im gona be boostin soon
I didnt want to post another topic about this, so I hope I can jack the thread for jsut a second or a few replies.
When cold, my D15B7 w/obd0 si ecu, only runs to 5k rpms. but after warmed up (10seconds later due to ehadgasket blown) it will rev then to 6500, stock rev limit.
Is that prevailent on ALL motors, or is it just because its a frankenstein motor/ecu and all that.?

you need to have a socket soldered in there but if you are good with an iron you can put it it you can order the kit from phearable.net and the chip from phearable.net and if you do it its actualy very cheap... but yes that controls the revlimiter and top speed i set my rev limit at 8k just incase i miss a gear i wont ruin the motor, and the vtec x over at 5300 but i only take it up to about 7-7200 (what there rated for stock) but i dont have a top speed limiter either
plus the fuel and timing maps are a little different than a stock p08 because of the intake and pretty much open exhaust i run on a daily basis
aXhatch im not sure about your problem how would you know it only revs to 5k less than 10 secons after it starts? i hope your not just turing it on and reving it that high right away???
