Default cobalt friction - new compounds coming out

looks like the Spec VR pads are phased out and will be replaced with something new.

That's about all I know since my Spec VRs have been on back order for about two months. I was just told this - and only this today.

No, no don't be so harsh. Jason used a new vocabulary word this week.

Let's all try to use Plethora in a sentence shall we.

I like to eat a "plethora" of dry aged steak. Oh and some

ok. Cool.

Unfortunately I couldn't even find out what the VRs are being replaced with - or a good handle on the ETA. Just that there are new compounds on the horizon.

Nothing wrong with Carbotech but Cobalt has been good to us and the Expo for at least the last 3 Expos.

When I was talking to Andie at Cobalt he didn't give me a lot of specifics but said the GT Sport compound would be changing and this is all happening due to sub contractors leaving them hanging and them moving to in house production. We should see new/better compounds, better turn around time and potentially more support for events since they have control of the production.

I'll see if Andie can expound.

Thanks for helping to fill in some of the blanks. I got my GT Sport pads after a small wait - I'm assuming this is the old compound. Had my first AX with them this past sunday and they're great. I ordered the Spec VR fronts for time trials. Looks like I won't have them (or their replacement) for my May event. Hopefully I'll have them for my late June event.

I dunno. Cobalt Friction went pretty much big time a while back. They sell a lot less to Honda Challenge and a lot more to American Lemans, Grand Am, World Challenge, and any number of other professional series.

They're in the middle of moving to a new facility to handle all this.

When trying to order my SpecVRs from Cobalt just recently I was told by Andy that niether the VRs nor the new compound will be available in time for the Expo

Yeah, nothing wrong with them by any means, I've just always been treated right by Andie and I absolutely love the Spec VRs.
