Default H22 in a 98 ...few questions

My f23 is getting close to 200k so it looks like it's time to get a new one.....but thay can be around 600 or even more for a low mile one.....then I thought *#@(, why not upgrade to a H22....low miles, more power....this would be my 4th Honda swap so it should be no big deal. I read a bunch of posts about the swap and it look even easier then a B swap in a civic. But I didn't find answers to a few questions I had so here goes:

1. Can I still use my stock F23 tranny and clutch?
2. Anyone have a 1320 time? pre/post swap?
3. Which header can I use?

Thanks, and I'll keep searching!

Seems like this guy used H22 head and f23 block.
The header must be the one for whatever is the head, if you are using the H22 one... then the header has to be the one for h22 since the one for f23 has a different order for the exhaust openings.

I would recommend using the h22 transmission. It will give better acceleration to do shorter gearing. You may be dissapointed if you stick with the f23 tranny.

That too... since the guy will probably want to go for a JDM h22, that will have a LSD tranny...

I wish I could use the H22 tranny but I travel over an hour to school 3 times a week on the interstate. (I've got just under 2 years left) That's A LOT of wear in my opinion. I'm not too sure about how high the revs would be at 80 MPH, but even with the f23 tranny, they are higher then I would like.

As for the F head on the H: It goes around the reason for the swap, my bottom end has almost 200k and there is no way it is going to last forever.

Thjat one link is awsome, awhile back I read tha one and another guy named Pirate.....one did a h23 head and the other did a h22 head.....they called it a G23....nice play on the letters if you ask me.

so looks like I got questions 1 and three answered.....now only one left!

Just because your engine is high mileage it doesn't mean that it's going to die soon. Many hondas have well over 300K miles and still run great. If you want to drop in an H22 then go ahead but don't think you have to just becuase you current engine is high mileage.

H22 will not really have 'low miles' unless you get one that crashed early, they stopped making the H while they were still making F's. The big problem to deal with is wiring. Definitely find an OBDII H.

I doubt it. For previous generation accords sure, but for the 98+ there's a lot of wiring to deal with, plus the immobilizer.

You can use an H22 header with little or no modification, and yes, the F23 transmission will bolt right up.
