Default back to SRP's.....was there ever a final word?

reading through the arcives on SRP's.......and wondering if there was ever a final word on power limitations of them? with the new occurances of high hp stock bottom ended cars....jsut wondering if anyone started making more power on srp's. there's a local guy with srp's and eagles for $350 and i'm contemplating picking them up for my mild 400whp/pump gas build.

so, yay/nay on SRP's?

pls, only fact/knowledable ppl...nto just n00bs wiht hearsay, thanks

I don't see the SRPs being a problem at that power level. They are just made of a different material than the good stuff. They are good pistons for a mild build and don't tap as much because of the tighter clearances you can get with them.

For that price, I would probably jump on the SRP's as long as the Eagle Rods are Hbeam deseigned.

But if I were buying a new set of pistons, I would definately go with CP or JE. I was contemplating SRP's, but I ended up buying Wisecos for $20 more, and the SRP's didnt' even come with rings! The reason I say CP or JE, is because I have heard the most success from those two names right there. I partially chose Wiseco because I wanted to go out on a limb and prove they're worth something, but my setup is going to be so menial that it wont really do that. Dumb choice, but I have faith they'll hold.

i don't like JE or cp...cp's 80's technology, and JE's are just too loud when cold. i'm looking for a low buck alternative to getting more weico's, and i'm contemplating this stuff

i don't get you saying you were trying to "prove" something with weisco...they're easily the best piston on the market, and used by more top ening builders than anything else?!

Import builders recommends Wisecos and Endyn uses Wisecos as the core for their special pistons. From what I have read they have been in the business for a while in Domestic vehicles. They offer very good tolerances and they are one of the lightest pistons with the thickest crown area consequently making them very strong. Check out import builders or Endyn they have some write ups about the pistons.

Also, import builders gave some examples of where the wisecos made more hp on the same set up and some examples of people runing them for years on stock sleeves with no issues oil or loss of power on turbo cars.
