Ive heard cases of people who have damaged the plastic fans by taking that thing off... Besides, take a **** before you drive, thats the same weight right there.

It is not going to hurt anything. It may actually prevent you from getting an annoying rattle down the road. If you are looking to squeeze every bit of horsepower out of your car, maybe you want to keep them to cut .5 degress off the underhood temp.(sarcastic). Or you could add a header and wrap it with the exhaust wrap.

If it's a stock header i would just leave it cuz it looks way cleaner. If it's aftermarket then it's absolutely fine. On the JDM ITR head i think it looks tite either way!!!

All stainless header without heating shield.
Thats because aftermarket headers do not come with the same mounting pieces for the heatsheilds. The heatsheild cannot be used on an aftermarket header...so far as I know.
