Default type r on craigslist (New Question, thanks for input)

So I finaly found the car i've allways been looking for, a yellow 2001 type-r with JDM front end; problem is, the car sound too good to be true. The seller is only asking 15k for it. Is this a scam or am i just being paranoid? I have the vin, but have yet to run a carfax on it. Should I save myself the trouble and look elsewhere, or try my luck and hope for the best?

I dont want to fly down to the LA area just to find out that its a scam or its fake, any input?

Thanks
~Kit

Try and set-up a time to see it in person or have someone you trust in LA go see it.

I've found when looking for cars or bikes that the scammers will never let you see it in person.

Good luck out there!

you haven't provided too much info other than the fact that you are interested in a 01 PY R. 15k is reasonable and do not think that is too good to be true.

Mine's going for $15,000.

If you're gonna fly down to the LA (socal) area my car will be definitely worth your time.

how many miles? what is the condition of the R? if it has lots of miles and condition is not that great, $15k is possibility. if the seller is in L.A., i'll go take a look for you (if you want) to find out it's legit. lmk.

New question, same thread. (Didn’t want to waist too much bandwidth )

I know that Acura/Honda motors are known to be built well, and run forever. Are the motors in a Type-r any different? Is there anything that I should look out for when buying/test driving one? Does 90K miles on a 1998 sound about right. How long do there motors *usually* last without any *major* problems.

Thanks in advance, and have a good day

as long as they have had the maintenance done or been freshened, they are fine.. just make sure everything appears kosher and the person can attest to it's maintenance history..

90k on a 98 isn't bad at all.. there's 92k on one of my 2000's..
