Default When Pistons and Valves Collide *HELP*

This morning I think I got a little ballsey with my stock valve springs in my First Gen B16A, around 8500rpm I had a piston slap my valves, they said "psht, back up foo". There is lots of damage to the number 1 combution chamber and slight (very little) damage to the other 3. There is a valve stem sticking out of the piston and some large holes in it. I know I am going to need to replace the pistons, prob. go with a 82mm and over bore it, I wanted to do that anyway. What I am concerend with is the head. Does anyone know any machine shops that fix these old heads? I remeber a write-up in Turbo or Sport Compact Car several years ago when they did the same thing on there LS-Vtec that broke a timing belt, and the did a break down on the company the repaired it, however I have looked an searched and can not find it. Help a brother out!

Here are the pics thanks for the info on how to post them!

Combustion chamber

Piston

This happened this mornig around 5:40am on my way to work. I had it towed home. When I pulled the first three plugs they were all wet, it seems some metal was flying around and got stock inbetween some of the other valves and there seats, so they could not close.
I installed new HIGH LIFT cams (these bastards are BUMPY!) last night, however, I checked all clearences, adjusted the valves and ran them last night, HARD. Last night I tooked them up to about 9200RPMS 2 times (2nd gear then 3rd), and everything was PERFECT, along with about 12 8200 to 8500 rpm pulls, no problems. This mornig this happened at under 8500!?!? The cam gears had not slipped, the belt had not sliped, I checked the gear angles to the crank and everything was cool. I wonder why this happedend?

Contact DonF, he may be able to help you salvage the head if it is possible. Also, with the valve springs it takes a couple of passes of repeated stress to get the springs to weaken, that is why some people can **** rev it a couple of times before total failure. Also, you may have tapped it before, but only a minor contact (minor being relative), and taking it up there again sealed the contract.

That thing is definately fixable, a little welding in the chamber and new seats should do her right up

I dont think thats going to be fixable. Further more, is it cheaper to just buy another head?? If you cracked that head there is no way to fix cracks unless they are peen-over but even thats not fixing it, its only to make it work until the head finally cracks all the way through. I think that its in your best interest to just find a replacement head for a few hundred. Its going cost you a few hundred to fix it anyway.

I also garuntee you that there is more damage than you can see. When aluminum is cracked its not fixable because regardless if you weld over the crack its still going to be there just not on the surface. So when the aluminum heats up after time the crack will only expand.

Word nick, it is a stock sir1 head, I have been alredy cruising EGay for a new used head, but still have to inquire about fixing it. this morning I did not relize I could buy a b16a head for as little as 300 to 400. Thanks for everyones input.
I would still like to know how much the others paid to get there heads fixed, it would suck if I had 1500 in machine work done to it.
I still wonder why it happened, if you read my previous posts, everything was done properly with the cam install. I reved the **** out of it yesterday (alot higher then this morning) and it was cool mo g. This morning I was under the stock rev limit...

A couple days spent chewing the Rev Limiter at various events, and passing someone on the highway at 5500RPM.....~sniffle~

pretty uncommon to see this in a honda engine, i bet if you left the stock cams in it wouldnt have done that, what cams were u using? my guess they required aftermarket valve train and itd show a perfect example of y not to use stock ****.

Eh latino you cna't complain, you have a pretty new Z6, also how often did take it all the way up to 8500, I have my ECU chipped for 8700 all stock internals, havn't actually taken it there on the street I start to get antsy aroound 8300, I'm just trying to learn from your mistake.

its the non stock honda cams that did it i tried for months to blow up my old a6 bounced it off the rev limiter prolly 4 or 5 times a day for about a month and never blew(smoked a little though), and actually now its my friends, it got new rings, valve guides and bearings and runs like new.
