I am replacing my door and can't seem to get the plug out of the rear door.

What plug are you talking about?!
There's a little piece of metal that you are supposed to knock upwards in order to have the door opening entirelly. Everything else is screws and disconecting cables.....

 

pull back the rubber boot and use a flat head screwdriver if needed...
