changing from crx to civic ?
ok i dont no alot about suspension and i did search for this. my neighbor is going to sell me a KYB suspension kit (shocks, struts and springs) it was for his crx. i have a 93 civic hatch and wanted to know if it would fit on my car. any info would be great
thank you
thank you
umm i dont think so i know about the difference in the 88 suspension tho saying that it is not an 88 tho will it be a fitment problem? and if its from an 88 what else would i need for it or is it not even worth the aggravation?
I'm almost sure they will fit then. But I think you will have to use your EG front forks. I would try and wait for more opinions, tho. Or try searching in old topics to see about this.
Pm CRX Lee, he knows a lot about suspension.

If the CRX is not an '88 but instead an '89-91, the rear shocks will fit just fine and the spring perches are in the right location. You can install the front shocks shocks as noted above if you transfer the smaller ID front mounting wishbone over from the CRX to the Civic. The spring perch is lower and the wrong shape compared to the later car so you can't put EG Civic springs on them properly.
As for the springs, unless they are from a coil-over kit that lets you adjust the height, I would expect that as a generality the CRX spring rates will be softer, spring lengths might likely be shorter and I know the perch location is lower. Total shot in the dark but I'd guess the car will sit too low and be likely undersprung. if you are going to try this, the shocks will probably work acceptably if you put them with a coil-over sleeve system.
Is this worth the effort to do this at whatever cost it will be vs. getting the right parts for the car? Your call.

you definately will need the front forks. and using EG front shocks in a crx will reduce your shock travel since the shock body lenght is longer.
just get the right shocks for your car. its not 100% compatible.

I missed this detail. You must use the CRX/EF front mounting wishbones or forks. The EG forks will not tighten on the smaller OD shocks.

ah, i mis read that he wansted to use EG shocks on a CRX. seems like he wants to use CRX shocks on his EG.
either way, just buy the right shocks for your car.

If CRX shocks to EG, then use CRX wishbones. If EG shocks to CRX, then use EG wishbones but still both would be best with a coil-over kit as normal spring perch shapes and ehgiths are wrong.
