Plug wire problem
I pulled one of my plug wires to clean the corrosion on the coil pack, and when I tried to put the wire back on it would not snap into place. I ended up getting a paper clip to try to bend the metal in the boot to a point where it would lock, and it didn't work. Right now it isn't snapped into place but is just on top of the coil pack. It seems to be running just fine. I know it's a problem I need to fix but is there a way to make the boot snap back into place? The wires are almost 3 years old, so it wouldn't be the end of the world to replace them.
I'm seriously wondering if I'm getting enough spark with the boot just sitting on top of the peg of the coil pack. If it's not getting enough spark, it may be running rich in that one cylinder.
Ok, changed the plugs and wires. I had 8.5mm on before, and I put on 7mm. Stock setting on the plugs is .40 and I put it at .43 because I have a few bolt-ons. The car seems to be running a lot smoother, but the low end seems to be lacking. Should I put 8.5mm wires back on? The car might be used to that since they were on there for 30,000 miles.
Edit: I just measured my old plugs and they were gapped at .55! The car ran much better with that gap than it does now close to the stock gap.
