Default Anyone who has swapped an Si tranny in there civic please read!!!!

I'm looking at buying one,I'm talking with a guy right now and we're pretty far apart on price. But it would help if I could get opinions on whether or not this is worth the trouble to swap out.I have an 88 civic with the slushy 4 speed but it works excellent and only has 58,000 miles on it.
I'm in the process of doing a minime swap D15B2 w/Z6 head and it is coming along nicely,I've already converted over to mpfi.So I guess my question is:"Is it worth it????" I'm looking at getting some opinions on people that have actually done thisI also think this would be a great thread to start so please start giving me your pro's and con's as to why this is a "good" swap to undertake!!! Thanks in advance for all your help.

that 4 speed is pretty horrible for performance. of course its worth it to put in a Si tranny.

your dx tranny long gearing, meant for fuel economy, 4 speed

you do the math!

fine, you little *****. read the numbers.

88-91 Civic STD USDM Cable L3 3.250 1.650 1.033 0.823 -- 3.153 3.888

88-91 CRX Si USDM Cable L3 3.250 1.894 1.259 0.937 0.771 3.153 4.250

if you cant see the difference in gearing, then youre as hopeless as you seem. its a goddam no brainer.

I have an Si tranny in my car. I never drove it with the original STD tranny, but I can only imagine how much that would have sucked.

I really like the Si tranny + d16z6 combo that I have in my STD. The engine and tranny seem very well matched.

Why not swap the Si in there? I mean, I bought mine for $70 and it was in excellent shape, no grinds or anything. They go all day long for less than $100.

For $100 or less, it is definately a worth while modification.

Dx has a 5spd and has the same gear ratios 1-5 as the si ..its the final drive thats different..Std is 4spd..And I wouldnt really call it fuel econony ,,on the highway at least..Feels like you need another gear..

How much more ungrateful can you get man? You are asking for help, so someone responds and you blow up on them.... I don't get it.

But the si is definitely worth it.

Is this a direct swap,do I need any shift linkage or anything extra other than the tranny???

i take it back, im back. cant ignore the misinformation i must have missed.
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by b18_crx &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">your dx tranny long gearing, meant for fuel economy, 4 speed

the 4spd tranny is NOT the same thing as the DX tranny, which that seems to infer. this is just for general information for everyone else reading this, not directed at the screaming cry baby.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Mr.speaker &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">

this is correct.
