Default CRX problems

So i have a 91 crx si with ksport full coilovers. When i got the car stock just a few weeks ago it had this terrible clunking noise on rough roads on the passenger side.I also noticed at high speeds you could here something wiggling at speeds above 60mph.Me and my mechanic jacked the car up and i checked the tie rods which are both in great condition and many other suspension componets.

To this day i still have that problem which sounds like its coming from right in front of me but on a rough road it sounds like the passenger side.I seriously cant stand it anymore. The wheels are balanced so thats ruled out.I very confused and ive looked at everything that ive could so any help will be appreciated. At one time my mechanic tightned down the traction bars and some other componets and adjusted the steering rack. After doing that my steering was more solid and didnt have play also the sound wobbling sound was still there but it was much quieter.Ive been to honda and they keep saying that the rack end bushing is something thats very rare to fail and tell me to check everything again.Im done checking and would like to get this problem fixed so i can enjoy this car for once.

Front sway bar bushings? You got an Si right? Check those. If not, replace the steering bushings.

What else, try the LCA bushings. Bushings in Honda dry out and fall apart after 15 years of hard service, get an energy suspension bushing kit. Not only will it solve alot of little noises, the car will ride and handle like brand new...

I Had the same problem on my 91 DX (i drive a 91 Si now). That clunking noise happend on the right rear on mine. Never figured out what it was, but i was 80% sure it was a bushing. I swapped the suspension into my 91Si and it does not do the clunking anymore (ruled out dead strut). I would definately try changing out the bushings, maybe with a prothane kit, or something.

what about your tires? are they new? perhaps someone put fix a flat in it, i know fix a flat will make some noise or throw off your wheel balance.

how about wheel bearings? when you crx is on a lift or jack stand, see if you can wiggle to front wheel back and forth (put on hand on toip of the wheel and on hand on the bottom.. if you can wiggle it, replace your bearings.

Crossmemeber tightned as well as the engine mounts.Today i bought a new rear motor mount and that turned out to not be the problem.Guys ive thrown everything at this car and looked up and down and now thinking of giving up and trading or selling the car.

Ive brought up the rack end bushing deal to my mechanic and others and they said if it was going out you would be able to wiggle the rack up and down.On top of that nobody is willing to do the job cuz they say that it wont help anything.I seriously love this car and dont want to let it go but now im just getting pissed and stressed that i cant fix this damn sound.

Its not the sound that you can just block out of your head its the kind where it bugs the hell out of you and drives you to fix it.Car is for sale currently for 4000firm i hope i get that much.If anyone else has any suggestions pleaseeee pleasee let me kno

I had a problem like this drove my crazy too. It was the ring around the outside of the cv shaft (dust shield) made a rotational noise, now the noise is gone! After endless hours of trying to figure it out. Kick ur right front tire, hear a ringing sound? That might be just it!

Hope this helps!

maybe you have some body panel or wheel well section that pops under stress or flex, and that's what's causing the noise? just a thought

i got the car in the air with me in it and i went through the gears and had the class look from below and it never made the noise. When i got back on the ground and did it you could hear the noise especially if you let the clutch out a bit to fast

interesting, I dont know why it's doing it, my only other suggestion would be that your shift linkage could be hitting something perhaps? I dont know, I dont have many ideas on this, but yeah, good luck with it!

i had my manual transmission teacher drive it(ASE certified in all sections)and he said it sounds like the inner tie rods on the passenger side.He shook the wheel and we could here a clunk clunk and on the drivers side if you do it you hear the sound coming from the passenger side.Funny cuz someone on here told me to do that and i could here it but when i went to my mechanic he said they were fine.Soo tomorrow were going to get the car in the air during class and hopefully thats the problem.Pray for me lol

good luck with that, it sure must suck not knowing the exact cause of it. Anyway, random thought I just came up with, grab one of those umm....what do youc all them? stetoscope??? sp?? Those thingys that have a really long pointy stick and you hook up to your ear, and you can hear the stuff with...made for cars, you know what I'm talking about?? So if you cant verify it tomorrow, you should grab one of those, and start inspecting all parts of your suspension and see where you hear an odd noise

i just had a problem with this yesterday and fixed it today, last week i put new lowering springs and struts on my car, when i put the rears back on, i forgot to put the washer over the bushing on the top i tightend the nut down, well the nut pulled through the bushing, so the strut was just banging around over all the bumps, idk thats what my problem was
