clutch going bad?
when you shift at high rpms and your rpms rise but your not going anywhere, your clutch would then be toast. or if you can smell it through your vents real bad
If you give it a good amount of throttle and you engine revs but the car doesnt move as fast as it should. Also, the smell he is talking about is very distinctive. Hot metal smell.
a good test is pull the ebrak, put the car in 1st gear and release the clutch. if the clutch grabs and pulls then your good for a while. When you do this test and the clutch dosne't pull, then you need a clutch asap! You can also go through the gears in this test. meaning try starting the car in 2nd gear and see if the clutch pulls!
