Flange warpage problem
after making my first log manifold I have a few questions. When I welded my runners on the head flange I tacked the flange to a big piece of steel. After that I needed to fit the manifold on the car to mock up the turbo flange, so I cut the tacks off. I welded the turbo flange on and when I went to put the manifold on the car to mock up the waste gate runer the f-n head flange was worped.
I was thinking of making some kind of heat sink/big piece of steel to bolt to the manifold when welding. When I weld the wastegate flange on do I need to worry about warping as well? I would think so.
Whats the trick?

It is impossible to not warp the flange at all. All of the plates people use are just to minimize warping. After making a manifold, spend the $15 to have the flanged surfaced at your local machine shop.
