6th gen sub amp wiring
hey, i just got my 2000 accord coupe v6, its the fully loaded version (sunroof leather....) im trying to figure out if there is any way to run the power wire (4 GA) from the battery to the amp w/o drilling a hole through the fire wall. If anyone has found a good route please explain in detail w/ pictures if possible. Also what is the best route to take to wire the RCA's and Remote wire.
Im not sure about 6th gens because i have a 5th gen but mine had a little hole by the battery and intake box it was like the size of a pen it was just enough to fish the line through. It took me like an hour to get it all the way back to the fuckign amp.
Make sure you run the power wires down one side of the car and the rca's down the other. If you run them on the same side they will interfere with each other. I have a 5th Gen but I assume the 6th gens are similar. I poked a hole in the rubber groumet right under the dash on the drivers side near the side of the car and ran the wire through that down under the carpet all the way to the back. Didn't take that long I don't think it took me anywhere near and hour for just that but it might have been. I then ran the rca's under the dash down to the other side and took the same route on the other side with those.
for the same reason as running the RCA's on the opposite side of the car, im trying to keep the power wire away from the wire harness.. thankyou though

hey thanks, i thought you meant right by the wire harness, but i now see what your saying. That will work great. Hey anyone know if you can fit 1/0 guage wire through the car? IE where to run it thanks guys
Thats not true, you can run then both on one side. Ive had it like that for about 3 months no problems yet.
And why would you want 0 gage wiring? Do you have a 4000 wat amp or somethign haha

you can not install a Amp into a stock radio i learned form my mistake the amps will blow there are diff Ohms from the Head unit on the car and The amps.!! You run the risk of blowing the Amps

I'm not sure what you mean by that. You CAN run an amp while using the stock headunit. The difference in Ohms is irrelevant in this situation, unless you created some whacky way of hooking the amp up. I'm willing to bet your amp blew up b/c of a totally different reason.
Numerous people use amps with the stock headunit. I did for a couple years.

Use a line converter to get the best signal to your amp. Otherwise, sound quality will suffer.

my power and rca's run together. I don't have any issues? or maybe i do and i don't know. what am i suppose to hear if i got interference? thanks. Oh yea i drilled a hole. worked fine. The Accord V6 is tight and trying to get through a hole with existing wires is hard with 4ga. i can send you pics of where i drilled if your interested.
Yes, you'll have a slightly cleaner signal using a line converter. I can't really explain why, but every time I added line converters to someone's car (who were using their amps with speaker-level inputs), there was a noticeable difference in clarity. The difference is small, but noticeable.

Okay, let's clear some things up here. Yes, you can run the power wire and RCAs down the same path. It's not a matter of can or can't. It's an issue of interference. You won't always get interference from running them next to each other, but you DO increase the chances of it.
I ALWAYS tell people, if they're about to run the cables, run them on separate paths. By doing so, you eliminate the path as a possible source of interference. It's just a preventive measure. If you already have your cables laid out and you have them next to each other, but you're not getting inteference, then fine, leave it that way.

Im telling u if u tap the rear speaker w/a line converter u will blow the amp I blew 3 to shitty ones and a nice alpine the stock head unit on the accord has diff Ohms he can give it a try but if they blow they blow if they dont then they dont

I don't know what to tell you. I've installed many, many systems for people that way, and never had a single problem. And yes, that includes numerous Accords.
