Jegs DIY cage, any thoughts? any experience?
hey im getting ready to add a little weight to my car now in the form of a cage. i found the jegs cages for my car(88HF) and the price just blew me away! 8 pt cage $150 you just can't beat that especally when "8, 10, and 12 point cages exceed NHRA and IHRA standards" so thats an added bonus.
i know its a piece together yourself kit, im not worried about that. but has anyone on here bought one of these before? how did it fit/how hard was it to make fit? how were the notches and other pipe ends? overall impression? thanks
edit: here is a link to the cage https://www.jegs.com/webapp/wc...emAdd

They work just fine if you have good welding experience, or know someone that's a good welder. My brother bought a kit just like that for is MK1 mr2, and fits perfectly.

I have personally installed one into my EK coupe. The fitment of the main hoop/halo to the chassis was very well. The only downside to the kit is that all of the bars come really oversized, which means alot of cutting/notching. Other than that, for a DIY cage you cant beat the price that they offer! good luck, heres some pics for now, but when i get a chance ill post up more pics that show the fitment of it.

Shouldnt the rear bars tie into the suspension mounting points and not the floor. Other than that it looks pretty nice.

is it against the rules? i do not see a down side on having the rear bars go onto the frame.
is that the frame i see passing below it? it seems to make more sense rather then welding it onto the shock tower.
