A friend gave this turbo off his thunderbird, is it worth running on a B16 dohc? Any idea of what I should expect for HP? Thanks all.

 

Will start to die out past 5/6k, will be really fun on the street though. Expect it to start to spool ~2500RPM. HP depends on how much boost you plan on running. I made 209WHP/193TQ on a DynoDynamics on a stock B18A1 @ .6bar (~8psi).

 

Why does it "die out" so quickly isn't it larger than a standard t3? I found a few places advertising over 400hp with this turbo. Were they lying?

 

def not a 400hp turbo. are you sure you read correctly. the "super 60" is just a straight t3. a t3/t4 60 trim on the other hand is a 400hp turbo.

 

This turbo isn't even a Super60

 

you can make over 400 on that turbo. its been done, probably lots of times.

is it past its "efficiency"? i dunno, probably.

you can make more power with less boost from a bigger turbo, but that would be a fine turbo for a b16.
